Hello! My name is Caryn Maltby and I’m a recent graduate of Texas State University. I graduated in December of 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Digital Media Innovation. I am also minoring in Art & Design, as making art has always been a huge part of who I am. I was born in Austin, Texas and raised in New Braunfels. I went to Canyon High School (Go Coogs!) and graduated in June of 2016 in the top 25% of my class.

I had decided pretty early on that I wanted to go to Texas State, so that’s exactly what I did. In August of 2016, after spending the summer as a camp counselor at a summer camp in New Braunfels, I was offered a student worker position at the university’s Network Operations Department. I have worked there ever since and I love it. Although I’ve worked there for the entirety of my college career, I have also worked side jobs. In Spring of 2019 I was a graphic design intern for the Habitat for Humanity in New Braunfels. In Summer of 2019 I was a graphic designer for KTSW 89.9, Texas State’s student-run radio station.

When I came to Texas State, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do. I started out as a nursing major but I just wasn’t passionate about the classes I was taking, so I switched to an Advertising major. After about 8 months of being an Advertising student, I decided to switch one more time to be a Digital Media Innovation major and I’ve never been happier. I especially love that my major allows room for a minor because I was able to minor in Art & Design, which is my passion. Since taking more classes that relate to my major, I’ve learned so much more than I could ever have imagined. I’ve learned how to properly take photos with a DSLR camera, record interviews, design principals, social media analytics, web design and HTML coding.
